     Five Pin Output Controller
EDEFT649 - Five Pin Output Controller
The FT649 is an eight pin chip that can send commands from five of its pins. It is controlled via a 2400 baud serial line. The output on each pin can be V++, ground, or the input to another device (like an FT639 or FT609). When the FT649 is used with 5 FT639 it is able to control up to 25 RC servos through a single serial line. It can be made to control up to 5 stepper motors in a similar fashion with the FT609, or some combination of servos and stepper motors.

Several applications could benefit from more that five servos or 1 stepper motor. Examples include a six-legged robot, and animatronics. For instance, one of the pins could be used to drive an FT639, another to control an FT609 while the other three pins act to control DC motors, solenoids, or simply drive LEDs. Any combination of pin configurations is permitted.

FT649 features: Control up to five FT639 or FT609 chips allowing the independent control of up to 25 servos or 5 stepper motors. Controlled through a 2400 baud serial line Eight pin count chip No external components needed for 0-5V serial line and only 2 resistors and a diode for standard RS232 line.
