Sony Semiconductors
Based in San Jose, Calif., Sony Semiconductor Company of America combines the diverse strengths of Sony's semiconductor design, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales operations in a vertically integrated company for effective product development, production and close customer relationships. Established in March 1995 by Sony Electronics Inc., the new entity enables Sony to respond quickly in the rapidly changing and competitive U.S. semiconductor marketplace. It was created to support Sony's global efforts in developing innovative value-added products for communication, audio visual and computer applications. The company has approximately 1,100 employees assigned to design, marketing and sales operations located in San Jose, Calif., and engineering and wafer fab manufacturing operations based in San Antonio, Texas.
